Sweet Thing ヴァン・モリソン (Van Morrison)

この曲の歌詞について，ある人は「この曲は愛について歌ったもの。飾り気がなく無垢でシンプルな子ども時代を思い出させてくれる恋人に宛てて歌っていて，その人に対して，前のような大人にはもう戻らないと誓っている。歌詞全体に，子どもにしか感じられない純真さ，純粋さ，希望などを感じられる」と語っています。
最初に歌詞を読んだ時，私は主人公は囚人，特に死刑囚だと思いました。彼（彼女の場合もありますが）は何らかの理由で投獄され，死ぬまで釈放されることがないとわかっていて，その彼が純真だった子ども時代を懐かしみ，もう一度子どもに戻りたいと願っているという内容です。無論こういった場合，主人公はwillではなくwouldを使うとは思いますがなぜかそう思えました。
As for the lyrics, a person said, "This song is obviously about love, but he's singing to a lover that has brought him back to plain and simple innocent childhood ("And I'll be satisfied not to read in between the lines"). He promises that he'll never return to his previous state of adulthood. The whole song rings with innocence and purity and hope that only a child could feel."
I thought the narrator was an inmate, especially in a death row when I first read the lyrics.  He (could be she) is imprisoned for some reason and knows he'll never be released in his life.  He misses his young and innocent days, wishing to be a child again.  Of course I know the narrator would use "would" instead of "will" in that case but that's what I thought.

いや辛い・・・sweet thing，これを一体どんな「自然な」日本語に訳せというのか。そんなセリフ普通の日本人は言いませんから・・・言いませんよね？
