Eye Of The Tiger サバイバー (Survivor)

ご存じですよね，この曲。この曲のギター・リフは印象的で覚えやすく，一度耳にすれば頭の中でずっと鳴りつづけます。少なくとも私の時はそうでした。
この曲を共作したJim Peterikによると，当初曲のタイトルはSurvivalにするつもりだったそうです。歌詞に登場する「ライバル (rival)」という言葉と韻を踏んでいるからですが，フック（サビ）の部分があまりに良かったため，それを止めてフックにあるEye of the Tigerというフレーズをタイトルに採用したんだとか。
You all know this song, don't you?  The impressive and memorable guitar riff will be stuck in your head once you hear it.  Well it was when I heard it.
According to co-writer of the song Jim Peterik, they're going to call the song 'Survival' because it was a rhyme with the word 'rival' in the lyrics.  The hook was so strong, however, they ditched the idea and decided to adopt the phrase 'Eye of the Tiger' in the hook.

（余談）

ご存じのように，映画「ロッキー３」のテーマになっているこの曲ですが，タイトルのEye of The Tigerというのは，映画の中でかつてのライバルであり友人でもあるApollo Creedが主人公Rocky Balboaに，昔のような闘争心（Eye of The Tiger）を取り戻せというセリフから取られているそうです。
