この曲は1977年にリリースされていますが，この時代の曲に独特なのはその「リム・クリック」と呼ばれるドラム奏法でしょう。これがあるだけでたちまちソウル・ファンクやジャズ風の感じが曲に加わります。
This song was released in 1977.  I think one thing which is iconic of the era was a drumming technique called "rim click".  It immediately gives a song some old soul-funky jazzy flavor.

（余談）

それはともかく「破局ソング」のカテゴリに入る曲のなかでこれほどまでに「他力本願」で「願いをかけるだけ」な曲はあまりなく，それだけに主人公の「やらかし」が尋常ではなかったことが察せられます。

おそらく主人公は「多分ダメだろうな」と思いつつ，それでも一縷の望みを捨てきれないのでしょうが，その割に「もうそろそろお互いに仲直りする頃じゃない？もう元に戻りましょ」と結構自信をもって強気に出ているところが不思議です。
