Longer ダン・フォーゲルバーグ (Dan Fogelberg)

最初の魚類が登場したのはおよそ5億3000万年前のカンブリア紀の海だと言われています。したがって仮に主人公が一年一ページのペースで人生の記録をつけていたとすると，これまでの記録は5億3000万ページになるわけで，人間の皮膚よりも薄い厚さ僅か0.02ミリの世界最薄の紙を使ったとしてもその厚みは10キロを軽く越えてしまいます。そう考えると「空高く飛ぶ鳥よりも，舞い上が」るように思えますが，実際には東アフリカに生息するRüppell's vultureというハゲタカはそれよりも少し上を飛びます。
The first fish is believed to have appeared in the Cambrian ocean approximately 530 million years ago.  If the narrator keeps records of their life since then at one page a year, it would have been 530 million pages long by now.  The world thinnest paper is only 0.02mm thick which is thinner than human skin.  So if they use the paper, their book would be 10,600 meters.  Well, it seems to be higher than any bird ever flew but Rüppell's vulture flies a bit higher.

（余談）

・・・と思ったのですが，世の中には「地球は約6000年前に神が想像した」とお考えの方もいらっしゃるので，その考え方に基づけば，主人公の本は6000ページとなります。

だとすれば，あのThe Lord of Ringsでも1200ページほどなので，件の一節にも俄然説得力が出てきます。
