Do You Hear What I Hear ホーム・フリー (Home Free / Christmas Songe)

キリストの誕生を扱ったような内容なのでこの曲は何世紀もずっと教会で歌い継がれている曲だと思っていましたが，実際には1962年10月のキューバ・ミサイル危機の折に当時夫婦だったNoël RegneyとGloria Shayneが発表したものでした。
As this song seemingly depicts the nativity, I thought it's one of the traditional Christmas songs sung in churches for centuries.  The truth is it's a song written by a then couple, Noël Regney and Gloria Shayne during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962.

（余談）

リードではキリストの誕生を扱っているようだと述べたものの，具に見てみると辻褄の合わないところが散見されます。なにより「その子どもが我々に善と光をもたらすだろう」と語っているこの王（おそらくヘロデ王）は，逆に国中の子どもを皆殺しにしろと命じているはずだからです。

まさか王様の隠し子じゃないでしょうね・・・。
