この曲は1987年のSong of The Year部門でグラミーを受賞しています。ご覧のように，大変素晴らしい曲であることは間違いないのですが，私にとっては何故か若干居心地が悪く，あまりに「博愛主義的」過ぎるような気がします。「ずっと味方でいてあげる」ことなど自分には到底無理であるように思えて仕方ありません。
This song won the Grammy Award in the Song of The Year category in 1987.  As you see, it's a very nice song, of course but I feel somehow uncomfortable.  To me, it sounds a bit too philanthropic.  I don't think it's possible for me to "be on someone's side forever more"

（余談）

人間の心は当てになりませんがそれがデフォルトです。したがって，ビジネスや仕事関係はさておき，通常の人間関係においては，思いがけず当てにできた時に心から喜び感謝すればよいのであって，当てにならなかったといって落胆したり怒ったりするのは時間とエネルギーの無駄というものです。
