インタヴューで語った内容によると，James Bluntは現在重度の慢性腎臓病で闘病中であり臓器移植のドナーが現れるのを待っている自身の父親のためにこの曲を書いたそうです。

この曲に限らず歌詞に「monster (under my bed/under the bed)」が登場する曲は少なくありませんが，それはやがてやってくる「死」のメタファーなのかもしれません。
