Being told "not good enough" is pretty discouraging especially when you know you tried so hard and pushed yourself to the limit. In reality it's not very rare it actually happens all the time. So do not take it personally. It's just something like "a conflict of interest". It's better not to be take it too serious and just move on.

当人がいくら「必死に頑張った」とはいえ，相手がそれで不満というのなら致し方ないところではないでしょうか。そもそも逆の場合もあるわけですし。
ただ個人的には「人生に無駄はない」と思っています。主人公と相手の関係が恋愛関係であれ，就活生と企業であれ，受験生と大学であれ，ファンと某アイドルグループであれ，この経験から主人公が学ぶことは少なくないと思います（多分）。
曲名とビデオは"Numb"となっていますが、この歌詞はおそらく"In The End"のものだと思われます。
