何度も聞いたことがある曲ですがここまで長い歌詞だとは思いませんでした。内容は主人公の視点から主人公が相手のことを好きになりそして気持ちが離れるまでの流れを綴ったものです。

最近知り合いで貴重な写真を含むPCのデータのすべてを失ってしまった人がいます。無論当人が最悪に落ち込んでいることはわかりますが，その写真が捉えた瞬間はまだ当人の記憶にあるように思われます。

とりわけ私の場合「永久保存版」と銘打って保存したおいた画像やヴィデオは数多あるものの，文字通り「永久」に「保存」してあるだけでほぼどれも一度も見直していないので仮に今それらが失われてもダメージは少ないように思われますし，さらに言えば失ったことすら気づかない可能性もあります。

1992年公開のアメリカ映画「ドラキュラ」の最後でこの曲を聞いたのでこの曲の主人公はドラキュラ伯爵の妻であったという設定の女性なのでしょう。

子どもの頃はこういったことを信じていて毎晩透視能力だのテレキネシスだのの超能力が授かりますようにと願いながら寝ていた私ですが，１０代になった頃にはそんなものはすっかりバカにするようになりました。

（余談）

要するにこの曲で言っていることは運命の女神への絶対帰依であり，以前の私ならそういったことはバカバカしい，夢を叶えるのは本人の努力だと一蹴していたと思われますが，実際には人間が（本当の意味で）自分で決定できることなど多寡が知れています。今日のお昼に何を食べるかでさえ「体調」と「財布の状態」で決まってしまうからです。

そう思うとこのコオロギの言っていることは一見したところただのゴマカシに見えながら実は本質を突いているのかもしれません。
