Probably the narrator and the second person are lovers who are now miles apart from each other for some reason.  Or the narrator has not met the second person yet in her real life but believes they're 'the one' and waiting for her.

（余談）

この曲の正統派かつロマンティックな雰囲気からして，おそらくリードで述べた最初の解釈が正解だと思われるのですが，そういう意味で言えば，ミダス王の「Talking To The Moon」に近い曲と言えるかもしれません。
