アーティストというのはなかなかに大変な仕事で，その立場を維持するには常にヒットを出さねばなりません。自分のスタイルと違い過ぎることをやるとファンが離れていってしまいますし，だからといって自分の様式にこだわると，ワンパターンの誹りを受けてしまいます。
Being an artist isn't an easy job.  You are asked to keep producing hits if you want to stay where you are.  Venturing out too far from your style, you'd disappoint your fans.  When you strictly keep your format, you'd be also criticized of being too predictable.

（余談）

このNine Daysはいわゆる「一発屋」というカテゴリに入るバンドらしく，次のアルバムでヒットが出なかったという理由でレイベルから契約を切られたんだとか。

個人的にはたとえ「一発」でもヒットが出せた時点で勝者だと思いますが，世間の評価は少し違うのかもしれません。
