「罪人」と「犯罪者」は混同して使われることが少なくありませんがふたつは同じものではありません：「罪人」は聖書のような宗教的書物で禁じられたことをする人間ですが「犯罪者」は法律に違反した人間です。

（余談）

この主人公は「相手の心を傷つけた」ことを称して「いけないことをしたんだし，その報いを受けたいの（I've done wrong and I want to suffer for my sins）」と後悔しているようですが，仮にそれが事実であったとしても，それが「相手の個人情報をネットにバラまく」「相手の銀行口座から金を引き出す」などでない限り「犯罪」には当たらないと思われるので「腕の立つ弁護士」は不要です。
