White Flag ビショップ・ブリッグス (Bishop Briggs)

白旗が降伏の印だということはご存知でしょう。ではいつからそうなのかはご存知でしょうか？第一次世界大戦以来100年くらい？かなり近い。歴史上に白旗が登場するのは後漢時代（AD 25 - 220）のことです。
We all recognize a white flag as a sign for surrender, don't we?  Then how long do you think it's been used as such?  For about a hundred years since the WWI?  Pretty close.  The first mention of the flag goes back to the the Eastern Han dynasty in China (AD 25–220).

* take a hit　・・・　被害や損害を受ける，（麻薬などを）吸引する

（余談）

白旗を揚げた相手を攻撃することは禁じられているので，仮に相手の方が白旗を揚げて来た場合には（少なくともハーグ条約上は）それ以上攻撃できないことになります。

ただ軍法会議にかけられることは間違いないですけどね。
