アーティストにとって音楽のスタイルを変えるというのはなかなかに大変なことで，そのせいでファンが離れて行ってしまうことも少なくありません。Taylor Swiftはカントリーからポップへと転身したということで数年前批判されたんだとか。とはいうものの，最初と同じスタイルに固執すればいいかというと，そのせいで芸が伸び悩んでしまう場合もあります。
It's not easy for artists to change their music style completely.  It often costs them their fan base.  I heard Taylor Swift was criticized for changing her music from country to pop several years ago.  Sticking to their original music style, however, sometimes compromises their artistry.

（余談）

元々はハードロック・バンドだったWild Cherry。「ファンクをやれ」と言うファンの言葉をキッカケにして書いたディスコ調のこの曲が，彼らの最大かつ唯一のヒット曲となったのは皮肉ですが，あのサー・アーサー・コナン・ドイルも，本当は歴史小説で評価されることを望んでいたにもかかわらず，そうではないシャーロック・ホームズの方が代名詞になってしまったようです。

人生なかなか自分の思い通りにはいかないもののようです。
