この場合別の会社の便に変更する人や，そもそも飛行機での出張を取りやめてしまう人は少なくないと思いますが，私の場合は違います。

むしろ事故の規模が大きければ大きいほど，関係者の間の緊張が高まるため，いつにもまして警戒度が上がり，それにしたがって安全度も上がると考えてその会社の便に乗ると思いますが，ただ一般的な展開としてその航空会社がその後多大な損失を被るであろうことは想像に難くありません。

さて，この曲はカルト教団の教祖が信者を操る様を描いているそうで，なるほどタイトルの「Kool-Aid」が人民寺院の事件を連想させます。

人民寺院の事件の影響の大きさは，英語のスラングに「クールエイドを飲む（Drinking the Kool-Aid）というものがあり，仲間内の同調圧力に屈して誤った、あるいは無謀な選択をする，あるいは「盲信する」「無批判に従う」「固定観念に囚われる」などといった意味で使用されていることからも明らかですが，実際に使われた粉末ジュースは「クールエイド（Kool-Aid）」だけではなく他のブランドのものもあったようです。

幸いこのブランド自体は今も存続しているようですが，事件後風評被害によってどれほどの売り上げ減に見舞われたのかと考えると気の毒でなりません。

薬物に限らずそれがどんな形であれ「依存」状態になってしまうと，周囲がどのように理詰めで説得しようとその状態から抜け出すことは容易ではありません。当人にとっては薬物がある意味「神」に等しい状態なので，周囲がそれをやめさせようとすればするほど，状況は宗教戦争の様相を呈してしまいます。

この曲に関して言えばテーマは「薬物」で間違いないと思われますが，この主人公（というか相手）の置かれた状況自体はそう珍しいものではないでしょう。例えば「ヤケ食い」：

メタボ　→　糖質制限やカロリー制限をする　→　ストレスが溜まる　→　ストレスに耐え切れず暴飲暴食　→　効果が出ない　→　後悔で自己嫌悪　→　ストレスが溜まる・・・

といった具合です。

こういう場合は自分でどうにかしようとせず「専門家（例えば医者）」の手を借りるのが最も確実な方法であるように思われます。

厳密に言うとベッドル―ムではないものの，アーティストが自宅でプレイしている動画というのはこういう機会でなければなかなか目にすることはできません。ギターやアンプの並んだスタジオ然とした場所でプレイする人が多いなか，ひとりの後ろにフィギュアなどが雑然と並んでいる棚が映っていてそこに妙な親近感を覚えてしまいました。

ロックに詳しくないためこのバンドを知らず，イントロの「Yeah」を聞いてあのMike Shinodaかと思い，彼が新しいバンドを作ったのかもと考えてかなりワクワクしました。まあ結果的に彼ではなかったわけですが，それでもこの曲にはどこかLinkin Park的なものを感じてしまいます。
I don't know much about rock music, I have never heard of the band.  So when I heard "Yeah" in the intro, I thought it's Mike Shinoda and was very thrilled to think he might have formed a new band.  It turned out otherwise but I still hear Linkin Park in the song.

リードでも述べたように，最初の「Yeah」こそLinkin Parkのこちらの曲のイントロにそっくりですが，Wikipediaによると，このバンドFalling in Reverseはリード・ヴォーカルのRonnie Radkeが収監されている間に結成したバンドだそうで，そういう意味で言えばLinkin Parkとは対極にあるバンドなのかもしれません。

それにしてもラップとロックの組み合わせまではまだ予測できたものの，終盤のデス声には意表を突かれました。・・・そうきたか。

Wikipediaには「Pay Money to My Painは日本のオルタナティヴ・ロック／メタルバンドである (Pay Money to My Pain) was a Japanese alternative rock/metal band」と記述されています。注目すべきは「was」と過去形になっている点で，バンドは2013年初めにヴォーカルのKが亡くなったことで，同年の12月30日に活動を休止しています。

英語の歌詞で日本のバンドと言えば真っ先に思いつくのがOne OK Rockですが，実はそれ以外にもこういうバンドも存在します。ただ来年2020年に小学校で英語が必修になることを考えれば，今後はこういったバンドが次々に出てくるのかもしれません。

おそらくDragonForceの曲のなかでも最も売れた曲だと言われています。冒頭のギターリフは技術的に非常に難しくこれを再現できる人はあまりいないそうです。

ヴィデオではDragonForceのメンバーが演奏しながら激しく頭を振っていますが，脳はパックに入った豆腐のようなものなので，過度に振動を与えると取り返しのつかないダメージを受けてしまいます。

実際にロックバンドのコンサートで頭を激しく振ったドイツの男性（５０）が、硬膜下血腫と診断された例もあるので，ライヴでのヘッド・バンギングは節度を持って行った方が良いように思われます。

合わせたりするもんか，世の中に刃向おう

（余談）

今回はBritish Lionの初来日ライヴであったにもかかわらず，同じジャンルのCamelotとHARDCORE SUPERSTARのライヴが同じ日に重なってしまったため，観客が分散しチケットの売り上げにも影響が出て，一時は公演キャンセルも危ぶまれたらしいのですが，以前Iron Maidenが国技館で公演した際，チケットが取れず見に来られなかったファンのためにSteve Harrisが赤字覚悟で決行してくれたのだとか。

そのせいかどうかはわかりませんが，他の２つの公演を蹴ってまでそこに集まった観客の間には「絶対に盛り上げなくては！」という一種の連帯感が合ったように思います。

この曲，メロディーも美しくライヴでも素晴らしかったので，今回こちらで取り上げてみました。この曲でBritish Lionに興味を持ってくださる方がいらっしゃれば何よりです。

The Trooper アイアン・メイデン (Iron Maiden)

これは実話に基づいています。Iron Maidenファンの男性がオフィスで自分のPC画面を眺めていました。壁紙はこのアルバムのジャケットで戦車とEddieが登場しているものでした。すると上司が近づいて来てその壁紙を激賞してくれたため，上司がメタル・ファンだと確信したものの，実際には単なる戦車オタクだったそうです。
This is based on a true story.  A guy who's a big fan of Iron Maiden was looking at the display of his PC at the office one day.  The wallpaper was their album jacket on which Eddie appeared with a tank.  His boss was approaching him.  He said to the guy that he loved the wallpaper very much.  So the guy believed his boss is a metal head like himself.  No, he's not.  He's just a tank geek.

（補足）

こちらによると，この曲はイギリスの詩人Tennysonのという詩を元にしていますが，この詩は19世紀中期に起こったクリミア戦争の戦いのひとつである「バラクラヴァの戦い」を題材にしています。

（余談）

リードで述べた男性は，結局その後（完全に誤解した）上司に付き合わされ，九段下の遊就館まで連れて行かれたそうです。

これもある種の「偽の同意効果」というヤツでしょうか？・・・同じものを見ているからといって同じように感じているとは限らないんですね。

Open Your Eyes ディスターブド (Disturbed)

このカヴァーのお蔭でこのヴィデオに辿りつきました。DisturbedとMyles Kennedyが1970年代の名曲サイモンとガーファンクルのサウンド・オブ・サイレンスをカヴァーするのを聞いた時，今まで見たことのなかった全く新しい側面が見えて来たような気がしました。
This cover brought me to this video.  It was not until I heard Disturbed and Myles Kennedy cover one of the 1970's classics, The Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) that I saw it in a new light.

（余談）

クラウザーさんがその過激な芸風で人気を博したため，ヘヴイ・メタルのアーティストに対しては，ある種の偏見が生まれてしまったようにも思われますが，個人的な感想を言えば（ステパンやステパンやステパンなどの一部のアーティストを除き），このDisturbを始めとして，実際にはその対極にある方が多いように思われます。

高校生の頃は学校に馴染めず苦労しました。他のクラスメートの興味のあることに全く関心が持てず，向うは向こうで私の関心のあることなどどうでもよかったからです。この主人公と違うところは，私は頑張って（少なくとも頑張ったと自分では思って）仲間に入ろうとしたのですが，結局高校時代ずっと「余所者」のままでした。
When I was in high school, I was struggling to fit in.  I was not interested in what other classmates were and they're not what I was.  Unlike the narrator of this song, I was tried so hard (or at least I thought I did) to be one of them only to stay an outsider through my high school days.

（余談）

一般的に人間というものは，自分の関心のないことは思い出しもしませんし，ましてや話題にすることもありません。したがって，仮に主人公が余所者であることに心の底から満足しているのであれば，他人がどうであろうと気にもならず，こうやって自分の決意表明をする必要などないと思われます。

したがって，言っていることとは裏腹に，主人公はやはり「仲良しグループ」に入りたいのではないかと思えてなりません。
