（余談）

そういった場合，怒っている相手は「怒ること」自体が目的であり，一体何に対して怒っているのか自分でもわかっていない場合が大半なので，そこでいかに論理や道理を説いてみてもあまり効果がないばかりか，火に油を注ぐことになりかねません。

ものの本にはこういった場合，相手の怒りに共感しろと書いてあったりするものですが，それを実行し成功させるにはそれなりの訓練が必要です。したがって個人的には物理的にその場から離れることにしています。

無論この戦略は根本治療ではなくあくまでも対処療法なので，当然のことながらかなりの確率で後日相手から再び絡まれます。

（余談）

この曲は原曲のファンであったDimitri VegasとLike Mikeがイビザのショウのためにこの曲の海賊版を作ったところ瞬く間に世界中で話題になってしまい，そこにあのTiëstoまで加わってさらにそれが加速したようです。

当初はただのカヴァーであったこの曲ですが, SNSで広まったライヴ・クリップを見たオリジナルの作者Didoのマネジメントからコンタクトがあり，Dido本人が参加したいといったこの組み合わせが実現したんだとか。

確かにこれならオリジナルのアーティストも十分に利益を受けることができますし，二次創作側も著作権に付随する雑事に煩わされることなく創作が行えるので，これからはこういった形が主流になっていくのかもしれません。

それはともかく，この曲を最初に和訳したのはもう10年も前のことなのでこの機会にこちらの曲にある部分だけは和訳し直すことにしました。今見直すと拙い箇所も多く，編集したい気持ちもありますが，敢えて原曲の方は己への戒めとしてそのまま残しておきます。

社会というものは大多数が「決まりに従う」という前提で成り立っており，それがいわば「潮流」のように流れています。したがって「潮目」に乗っていればさほど苦労せずに済みますが，敢えてそこから逸脱しようとすれば「潮目」に逆らうがごとくに相当のエネルギーを要求されます。

（余談）

おそらくこの主人公はその相手との関係においてその「限界」に達してしまったのだと思われますが，こうなると相手が主人公と元のさやに収まるのは容易ではありません。

そもそも我々は人間関係において「相手にとってどこが限界か」を互いに見極めようとして生きています。

大部分の人間は相手と付き合っているうちにその辺りがなんとなく読めてくるのですが，たまさかその辺りが読めない人間がいて，そういう人は何故自分が周囲から嫌われるのかがわからず，まるで世界が自分を理不尽に敵視しているように感じ，その結果周囲に対して過剰に攻撃的になったりします。

「昔心をボロボロにされたことがあったけどその気分を味わってくれ」という主人公ですが，こういう相手の場合「人間関係の限界」というものの存在がそもそもわかっていないので，それはあまり期待できず，むしろ恨まれる結果になるような気がしてなりません。止めた方が賢明です。

それゆえに世界は「不公平」で満ち溢れており，むしろそちらの方がデフォルトです。したがって，恵まれた側はそうではないにしても，割を食っている側にとって不満が溜まるのは当然の帰結であり，これを放置しておくと社会が常に戦争状態になり維持できません。

そこで「来世」なり「天国」なり「地獄」なりといった「装置」が必要になります。すなわち自分は今は恵まれていないがこのまま頑張れば「来世（死後）」は天国で第二の人生が待っており，逆に自らの幸運をただ享受しているだけの人間は来世で地獄に落ちるのだと自分を納得させるわけです。

まさにこの曲で言われているように「宗教だとか信仰だとか，それに神様だとかって，そんなのがあるのはね，人間はそれがないと困るからなの」で，非常にひねりのある面白い歌詞だと思います。

This Is Gospel パニック!アット・ザ・ディスコ (Panic! At The Disco)

この曲についてBrendon Urieが語ったところによると，これは彼のバンド仲間で薬物依存だったSpencer Smithについて歌ったものだとか。個人的には「俺のことが大事なら，このまま好きにさせてくれ(if you love me let me go)」の下りを語っているのは，主人公(Brendon)とも相手とも取れる気がします。
Brendon Urie explained that this song was about his band mate, Spencer Smith who had been a drug addict.  I think we can take the line "if you love me let me go" two ways: One from the narrator's (Brendon) perspective and one from the second person's.

この曲はChuck Wepnerの人生を描いたThe Bleederという映画でこの曲を耳にしました。彼のモハメド・アリとの試合にヒントを得て，シルベスター・スタローンはあの有名なロッキーの脚本を書いています。
I heard this song in a film The Bleeder, portraying the life of Chuck Wepner who inspired Sylvester Stallone to write the iconic story of Rocky Balboa through his bout with Muhammad Ali.

不思議な映画でした。見る前はChuck WepnerがMuhammad Aliからダウンを取るところがクライマックスだと思っていたのですが，実際に見てみるとそこは比較的初めの方であっさり終わってしまい，その後は彼の凋落ぶりが淡々と描かれます。

通常の映画であれば，主人公が①このまま凋落を続け，何故あの一瞬に自分の運命を変えられなかったのだろうと悩む，あるいは②（何らかの分野で）返り咲いて再び脚光を浴びる，のどちらかになりそうですが，この映画はそのどちらでもなく，中途半端といえば非常に中途半端ですが，おそらくそういった結末が真の意味での「ハッピーエンド」なのかもしれません。

よくある「全米が泣いた！」的な映画ではありませんが，見終った後なんとなく「・・・だよね」と言いたくなる映画でした。

No One Else Like You アダム・レヴィーン (Adam Levine)

2014年のアメリカ映画「Begin Again」に使われた曲のひとつで，映画にはKeira Knightly，Marc Raffalo，そして師匠Adam Levineが出演しています。この映画を見終わった時の気持ちを表現する言葉が見つかりませんが，歓喜でも失望でもなかったことは確かです。ものすごいことが起こるわけではないのですが，幸せな気持ちになりました。
This is a track used in an American film "Begin Again" starring Keira Knightly, Marc Raffalo and Adam Levine released in 2014.  I can't find a right word to describe the feeling when I finished watching the film.  It's no elation but no disappointment either.  Nothing glorious happens in the film but it leaves something happy in me.

何をもってして，優れた歌手や名曲と言うのかを決めるのはなかなかに難しいものです。勿論多くの要素があるでしょう。優れた歌手の場合，往々にして「音程を決して外さず」「力強くすぐにそれとわかる特徴のある声」をしていますし，曲の組み立てやライミングの素晴らしい曲が名曲と呼ばれたりしますが，それが本質というわけではありません。思うに最も重要な点は，聞き手がそこにある種の「真実味」を感じ，そのアーティストがそれをでっち上げたわけではないと思えることではないでしょうか？
It's pretty hard to determine what defines a good singer or a good song.  Many elements are involved, I think.  A good singer is often pitch-perfect and has a powerful and distinctive voice.  A good song has a clever song structure and an elaborate rhyme scheme.  These are not, however, essential.  The most important is, I think, people see something genuine in them and know the artist isn't making it up.

それはともかく，Kanye Westは歌手ではなくラッパーなので，「歌の上手さ」という点から彼の歌を評価すれば，高得点は期待できませんが，にもかかわらず，聞き終わった後に不思議な満足感が得られるのは，この曲に限らず音楽を成立せしめているのが，歌唱力ではなく，曲そのものの持つ「真実味」にあるためなのかもしれません。
