（余談）

無論ジーザスの場合は自分の罪ではなく人類の罪を背負って処刑されたので厳密に言えばリードで述べた場合とは異なりますが，我々の人間の場合には「辞職してお詫び」あるいは「死んでお詫び」はなんのお詫びにもなりません。

むしろ辞職したり死んだりせずその後も被害者や社会のために滅私奉公する方がはるかに「お詫び」としての「実」があるように思われます。

Yoke Lore本人によるとこの曲は当時の彼女に書いたものだったそうですが，この曲を作る際には形骸化していると思える「I love you」などの表現をできるだけ使わないようにしたそうですが，それでも問題なくラヴ・ソングとして成立しているところがアーティストのアーティストたる所以なのでしょう。

・・・が，（私を含め）アーティストでない人間が安易にこのような「飛び道具」を使うと大怪我をしかねません。いわんや後年それが実家から「発掘」された日には。

あまりの激務とストレスに耐えかねたある救急専門のナースが，そこを辞めて普通の平穏な職場に転職したものの，次第にそのストレスの無さが物足りなくなり，同時に緊急事態に対応する際に出ていたドーパミンの感覚が恋しくなり，結局別の救急専門の職場に戻ってしまったという話をどこかで聞いたことがありますが，この主人公もそうなのかもしれません。

Wikipediaによると，Cigarettes After SexのGonzalezは，この曲を自分と以前デートしたことのある女性に着想を得て作ったらしい。全員が心に「夢」を抱えていながら，地元から出ていくなど「不可能」に思えて，地元を離れられずにいたそうで，彼はニューヨークに行ったものの，残りの２人の女性は地元に残ったそうです。

聞くところによると，人間にとって「未知なるものへの恐怖」は非常に大きく，そのため人は往々にして「未知なる幸せ」よりも「知っている不幸」を選んでしまうのだとか。

無論その「知っている不幸」があまりに大きい場合には「nothing to lose」ということになって「未知なる幸せ」を探しに出るのかもしれませんが，そうではなくその不幸が許容範囲にある場合には，今ある安心感を失うよりは・・・と一歩を踏み出せなくなってしまうのでしょう。

そういった人々を「敗者」と呼ぶのは容易ですが，それは単なる結果論に過ぎません。そもそも逆にそれが見つけられなかった場合には，彼らこそが「勝者」となるはずだからです。

「未知なる幸せ」を選ぶにせよ「知っている不幸」を選ぶにせよ，その時点ではその選択に正誤はありません。それが「正しい選択」であったか「間違った選択」であったかは，その後の人生の展開によって「正しい」と「間違った」の間を何度も揺れ動くものでしょう。

だとすれば自分の選択が正しいかどうかをその時点で判断しようとしてもあまり意味がなく，むしろその選択をした後，それが「正しい選択」となるよう努める方が遥かに意味があるのではないでしょうか？

2017年LGBTQ+コミュニティに対する賛歌として作られたこの曲ですが，むしろ社会のありとあらゆる側面に当てはまると思われます。親が子どもに求めるものもそうですし，最近のキャンセル・カルチャーも同じようなものかもしれません。

突き詰めればありとあらゆる「紛争」が，ひとつ「ムラ」と別の「ムラ」とが相手に対して自分の「ムラ」で正しいと認められている行動規範に従えと主張し合っているに過ぎず，そういった意味で今の自分の判断が「絶対的である」と考えないことが最も重要なことであると思われます。

（余談）

かのニーチェは「『事実』など存在しない，あるのは『解釈』だけである（There are no facts, only interpretations.）」と言いました。

かつてアムステルダムで夢を抱いていた自分が『事実』だと思っているこの主人公にしても，ただ本人がそう『解釈』しているに過ぎず，実際のところは今の自分と大差なかったのかもしれません。主人公が「あの気持ちをもう一度思い出」し，それによって今後何かを達成したら，その時当時の自分を思い返し，今とは全く別の見方をする可能性も大いにあります。

そしてその場合，物理的に起こったことは同一であっても，その意味するところは大きく変化するでしょう。「未来」が「過去」を変えたと言えるかもしれません。

仮にそうだとすると，夢のタイムマシーンは実は人間の心の中にあるのかもしれません。
