人間はそれぞれが価値観という自分だけの宗教に基づいて生きています。お互いが別々の宗教で生きているのですから，人間関係に問題が生じるのは当然であり，仮にその問題を完全になくし「公正」を実現しようと思えば，全員が同じ宗教に基づいて同じ考え方をする他ありませんが，それは集団が大きくなればなるほど難しくなります。偏差が大きくなるからです。

だとすればこの主人公の言うように「精一杯頑張って，やれるだけやってるんなら，それでもう十分なんだ」が正解なのではないでしょうか？

以前から考えているのですが，宗教にしろ政治にしろ「こうあるべき」というものを人間が考え出してしまうのは，そうすることによってカオスこの上ないこの世の中を「合理的」に「整理」できるからではないでしょうか？

「正しいもの」と「そうでないもの」に二元化し，そうでないものを処分して，正しいものを残せば，混沌たる世の中に秩序が生まれ，それによって処理速度が増し，社会が機能しやすくなりますし，その結果として，自己の遺伝子は存続しやすくなるでしょう。

そしてそういう遺伝子があるからこそ，多くの人間は「はみ出し者」を迷惑がるのではないでしょうか？

リード・シンガーのMatt Scannellによると，昔好きになった人がいて，なんとか力になりたいと心から思っていたにもかかわらず，その相手が頼るのは彼以外の人間ばかりで彼自身は全く相手にされなかった経験があり，その時の辛かった経験をこの曲にしたのだそうです。

（余談）

ただでさえ忙しく時に遅配も出るほど混みあう年末にあって，暮れも押し詰まった１２月２４日一日（しかも夜間のみで）「良い子だけ」という制限はあるものの，世界中の子どもにプレゼントを配送し終える「サンタ組合」の結束力と組織力には驚くほかありません。
