映画ではナチス政権の手を逃れるために，トラップ家の人々が家族だけでアルプス越えをしています。映画を見た時，彼らが山を上るシーンがあまりに美しく印象的で，それ以来ずっと彼らは徒歩でオーストリアを出たと信じていましたが実は違います。実際には彼らはバンドとして指揮者や秘書と一緒に「電車で」イタリアに向かい，その後ニュー・ヨークに逃げたようです。
In the film, the Trapp family went over the Alps on their own to get away from the Nazis regime.  When I saw the film, I was immensely impressed with the beautiful of the hills they climb up.  So I have believed that they left Austria by foot since then.  No, they didn't.  The fact is they traveled to Italy by train together with their conductor and secretary as a band then left for New York.

Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens...bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens...brown paper packages tied up with strings! These are a few of my favorite things!

Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels...doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles...wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings! These are a few of my favorite things! Girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes...snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes...silver white winters that melt into springs! These are a few of my favorite things!

When the dog bites, when the bee stings when I'm feeling sad: I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel soo...bad!

バラについてる雨の滴も，子猫たちの小さなヒゲも，ピカピカの銅のやかんも，ウールで出来た手袋も，そっけない茶色の紙にくるまれて紐のかかった小包も，みんなアタシの好きなもの

好きなものなら一杯あるの，クリーム色のポニーとか，サクサクと崩れるりんごのお菓子（アップルシュトゥルーデル），ドアのベルにソリのベル，麺を添えた子牛のカツ（ウィンナー・シュニッツェル）に，お月様を翼に乗せて飛んでく野生の雁の群れたち，みんなアタシの好きなもの。
他にも好きなものがある，白いドレスで青いサテンのリボンを巻いた女の子とか，アタシの鼻と睫毛の舞い落ちた粉雪だとか，キラキラ光る銀色の冬が春に溶けていくとこ，みんなアタシの好きなもの

犬に噛まれた時だとか，ハチに刺された時だとか，悲しくなって来ちゃう時には，好きなもののことだけをただひたすら考える，そうすればまあいいかって思えるの
