日本の英語教育ではよくあることですが、学校で現在形と現在完了に時間をかけ過ぎているように思えます。主語が三人称単数形の場合に動詞がどのように変化するかを教えられますし、過去形と現在完了の違いについて詳しくやります。
しかし役に立ってるんでしょうか。私にはわかりませんね。ただこれだけはわかっているのが、この２つは教師が考えるほど重要ではないということです。この歌詞を見てください。述語の大半が現在進行形（be going toまたはbe ～ing）で表現されています。
もし今英語を教えろと言われたら、私なら「英語で一番大事なのは過去形と現在進行形」と教えますね。
As is often with the case of English education in Japan, I think too much emphasis is put on learning  the present form and the present perfect tense.  In schools, students are asked to learn how a verb varies when the subject of a sentence is third person singular in the present tense.  Teachers also tried to make us understand the difference between the past tense and the present perfect.  
Does it work?  Well, I don't know.  All I do know is that the two are not so important  as they (teachers) think.  Look the lyric here.  Most of it is written in "be going to" (i.e. the present progressive) form.  
If I am asked to teach English now, I'd say, "The two most important things are the past form/tense and the present progressive form".
