Hometown Glory アデル (Adele)

おそらく2年以上前のことですが，この曲を取り上げようとしたことがあります。ただ歌詞の内容が全く掴めずどうしようもなくなりました。この曲のメッセージがはっきりわからず，今なら難なく理解できる第１連さえ最後まで訳しきれませんでした。当時はまだ力不足だったのだと思います。まだ歌詞のなかには一点の疑問もないとまでは言い切れない箇所も存在しますが，そろそろこの曲を投稿してもいいでしょう。
Once I tried to pick up this song.  Probably more than 2 years ago.  Soon, however, I found myself lost in the lyrics, completely unable to decipher them.  The message the song was trying to deliver was unclear to me.  I couldn't even finish translating the first verse which now I have no difficulty to understand.  I think I was unprepared then.  Still some lines of the lyrics are not crystal clear to me but now it's time for me to post this.

歌詞に登場するthe cityが具体的にどこを意味するのかはわかりませんが，Adele自身はロンドンの出身らしいので，そこを指しているのかもしれません。
