All 'Bout Money メイヤ (Meja)

友人曰くこの曲は「お金が目的じゃない，あなたのお金が欲しいんじゃない」と歌うJessie JのPrice Tagと好対照なのだとか。 確かに表面上はそう見えますが，この曲の実際に言わんとするところはタイトルの正反対，すなわち，金に憑りつかれて惑わされてはいけないということでしょう。したがってこの２曲，タイトルは正反対ですが，内容はほぼ同一だと思われます。
My friend said this song contrasts with Price Tag in which Jessie J sings "It's not about the money, money, money. We don't need your money, money, money."  On the surface, it seems to be true but what the song is actually telling us is exactly the opposite of the title.  The message it carries is we shouldn't be obsessed with and fooled by money.  Despite their titles, I think these two songs are practically the same.

（余談）

海外の歌詞解説サイトGeniusによると，この曲の主人公は，金のためならなんでもするという人間の多いこの世の中にうんざりしていて，歌詞では，やりたいことがあっても，その実現のためにはまず金がかかるということを述べているんだとか。

ところで，この曲が発表された90年代は確かにそうだったのかもしれませんが，現在のようにインターネットが発達した時代にあっては「やりたいことがあっても，その実現のためにはまず金がかかる」については，必ずしもそうとばかりは言えないような気がします。

例えば，このサイトをこの曲がリリースされた15年ほど前に初めていたなら，ドメインを取得しプロに頼んでホーム・ページを作ってとかなり費用がかかったと思います。また歌詞の意味を解説してくれるサイトがなかったであろうことは勿論のこと，CDを買わない限り，英語歌詞さえわからなかったでしょう。いわんやYouTubeをや。（ここはテストに出るので覚えておいてください）。しかし実際には，3年前にはほぼ何の初期投資もなくこのブログを始めることができました。

無論現在でも「お金がモノを言う世の中」という一般認識があるからこそ，Jessie JのPrice Tagやhttp://oyogetaiyakukun.blogspot.jp/2011/09/price-tag-jessie-j.html，Sam SmithのMoney On My Mind http://oyogetaiyakukun.blogspot.jp/2014/08/money-on-my-mind-sam-smith.htmlが受け入れられたりするのですが，その「モノの言い方」は多少違ってきているような気がします。
