These Boots Are Made For Walking ナンシー・シナトラ (Nancy Sinatra)

以前にもお話ししたかと思いますが，ポップ・ソングの場合，聞き手に強い印象を残し，曲を覚えやすくするために，タイトルは通常コーラス（サビ）の部分に登場します。この曲もそうですが，ただ今回は少し意外に感じるかもしれません。タイトルから想像できる内容は，主人公が相手からただ去っていくというものですが，コーラスには「だからいつかそのうちに，このブーツでアンタのことを，メチャメチャにしてやるからね (One of these days these boots, Are gonna walk all over you)」という下りが登場するからです。
As I said before, most pop songs have the title in chorus to impress listeners and make the song memorable and so does this song.  This time, however, you may find the title is a bit surprising.  What it conjures up would be something like the narrator is just walking from the second person.  In chorus (hook), however, she's saying "One of these days these boots, Are gonna walk all over you".

系列的には，AdeleのRolling In The DeepやAlanis MorissetteのYou Oughta Knowと同じように思われますが，それにしても・・・怖い（←褒め言葉です）とりわけ第三連の「火遊びをしてるのに，自分は絶対大丈夫，ヤケドなんかしないって，いつもそう思ってるけど，本当にそうかな？今ここに買ったばかりのマッチがあるの，神様はご存知よ，バカは死ななきゃ治らないって」の下りが素晴らしく，決して身に覚えがあるわけではないのに，和訳しながら心底ゾッとしました。
