この時期，多くの日本人が車，電車，飛行機などで帰省するわけですが，アメリカやイギリスでもクリスマスには同じことが起こります。Chris Reaは，クリスマスに妻と帰省する途中で渋滞にひっかかったという自分の経験を元にこの曲を書いたそうです。
In this time of a year, a lot of people migrate from their home to their parents' by car, train and air here in Japan.  The same occurs in the UK and the US in Christmas time.  Chris Rea who wrote this song once said it was inspired by his own experience that being stuck in a car with his wife on his way back home for Christmas.
