最近友人の家族の行方がわからなくなるということがありました。最悪の結果を予想して大変に動転し心配したものの，本人は最終的に無事に帰宅しました。ただそのことでいつなんどきなにがあるかわからないと気が付きました。

（余談）

当たり前だと思っていたことがそうでなくなる瞬間のあの動揺と当惑にはいつまで経っても慣れません。

それはともかく，Dermot Kennedyによれば，精神科医が女性患者と恋に落ちるF. Scott Fitzgerald著「Tender Is the Night（夜はやさし）」という作品を読み，その中に女性患者が医師に：

「あなたがどんなふうにあたしを愛してくれているかを考えて」彼女はささやいた。「常にこんなふうに愛してほしいとは思わないの、でも思いだしてほしいの。いつもあたしの胸の中には、今夜のようなあたしがいるということを」

と語る下りがあり，そこにこの曲の着想を得たそうです。
