Lifeline マット・カーニー(Mat Kearney)

彼の曲をどう説明したらいいんでしょうか。（カントリーの殿堂）ナッシュビルに引っ越して今もそこに住んでいますが、カントリー歌手とは言えません。確かに先日投稿したSooner Or Laterにはmilk and honey 'till to get our fillという聖書の一節がありますが、ヒップホップやロックといった曲も彼は書いています。
それにしても、Googleの zeitgeist 2011ヴィデオを見るまで彼のことは全く知りませんでした。彼の曲を採用した人に感謝。お目が高い。ところでマットという彼の名前を聞くと、つい俳優のマット・デイモン(Matt Damon)やマット・ディロン(Matt Dillon)のようにMattと綴ってしまいますが、彼の名前はMat。Matthewと綴るべきところを、看護士がMathewとtを一つ落としたまま書いてしまったからだそうです。
I don't know how to describe his music.  Despite moving to Nashville and living there, he is not a country singer.  It is true that this song sounds like country and "Sooner or Later"which I posted about 10 days ago has a reference to the Bible (milk and honey 'till to get our fill) but he also wrote many songs of various styles including hip-hop and rock.  
I didn't know him at all when I came across Google's zeitgeist 2011 video and am so thankful to the person who had picked up the song for it.  The person definitely has a good eye for music. 
By the way, when we hear a name pronounced "mat", we usually spell it Matt like Matt Damon or Matt Dillon.  The singer's first name, however, is Mat because it's registered under the wrong name Mathew (not Matthew) by a nurse.
