Back To The Shack ウィーザー (Weezer)

タイトルを見て何故かSteve Jobsのことを思い出しました。正確に言えば「小屋 (shack)」という単語を見て，あのStephen Wozniakが最初のApple コンピュータを作り上げたガレージを連想したということです。Mike Markkulaの経済的援助によって，Apple社を立ち上げた２人ですが，次第に関係がギクシャクし始め，結果的にWozniakは会社を去ってしまいます。皮肉なことにその原因は会社の業績が上がったことで，Wozniakは「楽しむこと」が目的だったのに，Jobの方はそうではなく，会社をさらに大きくするビジネスの方に気持ちが向いていたためでした。無論今だから言えることかもしれませんし，仮にそうなって良かったのかどうかはわかりませんが，彼らがこの曲のタイトルのように，あの時「原点に戻って (back to the shack)」いたら，状況は少し違っていたのかもしれません。
The title reminds me of Steve Jobs somehow.  More precisely, the word, 'shack' is associated with something like a starting point, which reminds me of their garage where Stephen Wozniak built the first Apple.  The lyrics also remind me of them.  Although they started Apple together with a financial aid of  Mike Markkula, later two Steves started growing apart to lead Wozniak leaving the company.  Ironically what made them apart was their business success.  While Wozniak was doing their business for a fun, Job wasn't.  He took it more seriously and focused on boosting their business even further.  I know it's a hindsight and I'm not sure if it's good or not but if they had been "back to the shack" then, it might have been a bit different now.

** strat：Fender社のStratocasterというギターでWeezerのRivers Cuomoが使っていたものとか。ストラップに稲妻のマークの入ったもののようです。

（余談）

この曲は彼らの9枚目のアルバム（9月リリース予定）の最初のシングルです。メッセージ自体はさほど珍しいものではなく，似たような内容の曲としては，Fall Out BoyのMy Songs Know What You Did In The Dark やLinkin ParkのGuilty All The Sameなどが思い出されます。
