こんなに悲しい曲だったとは。この曲は報われない気持ちを抱えつつ，愛する人とクリスマス休暇を過ごせないという内容ですが，主人公がクリスマスをひとりで過ごしているかどうかについてはハッキリしません。友人や家族と過ごしていることも考えられますが，仮にそうだとしても彼にとっては何の意味もないようで，振り向いてくれない相手のことだけをひたすら思っています。
I didn't imagined this was such a sad song.  It's about an unrequited love and spending the holiday without the loved one.  It's not clear if the protagonist spends his Christmas alone.  He could be with his friends or family but that seems to mean nothing to him.  All he wants is the second person who doesn't love him back.

（余談）

Elvis Presleyがロマンティックに歌い上げているのでうっかり騙されそうになりますが，和訳している間中，まるでゾンビのように繰り返し脳裏に「ぼっち」の３文字が蘇ってきました。とはいうものの，これを笑顔で歌えるのが「選ばれし者」の証なのかもしれません。
