I'll Be Home For Christmas ビング・クロスビー (Bing Crosby)

この曲は1943年のクリスマスの時期にリリースされました。一般にクリスマス休暇を大切な人と過ごす期待を歌った曲だと思われていますが実際には違います。歌詞の最後が「せめて夢の中でなら (If only in my dreams)」で終わっているからです。
この曲は第二次世界大戦中，海外派兵されていた兵士を主人公にして，彼の視点から家族に宛てた手紙という形で書かれているため，主人公がクリスマスに帰るというのはまず考えられません。
昨日はこの曲が浮かんで一日中頭の中でエンドレスでかかっていました。ひょっとすると何かの「お告げ」なのかもしれません。 何の「お告げ」なのかはわかりませんが。
This song was released around Christmas in 1943.  Many of us think it's a classic Christmas song describing the anticipation of spending Christmas holidays with person (or people) the protagonist loves.  That's not true.  The song lyrics end with a line, "If only in my dreams,"  
The song was written from a perspective of a soldier who served overseas during WW2  writing a letter to his family.  So it's not very likely for the protagonist to be home for Christmas.
This song haunted me yesterday.  It played over and over again and never stopped in my head throughout the day.  So probably that could be a sign.  I don't know what the sign is for, though.

Wikipediaによれば，この曲はBing CrosbyのあのWhite ChristmasのB面だったんだとか。A面B面ともクリスマスの定番で，今やこの時期の風物詩と化していますが，さしずめアメリカにおける「NHK 紅白歌合戦の小林幸子」みたいなものでしょうか（意味不明）。
