この曲の意味，とりわけ歌詞の第二連に関しては，様々な取り方ができるようで，ネイティヴの間でも意見が割れて，そこをどのように受け取るかによって，West End Girlsの人物像が変わってくると思われます。そのため，和訳する上では課題の多い曲ですが，逆に自由に解釈できる余地を聞き手に残したという点で言えば，非常に優れた曲と言えるような気がします。
