Ring of Fire ジョニー・キャッシュ (Johnny Cash)

以前Nine Inch NailのHurt (Nine Inch Nails)を取り上げた際，Johnny Cashによるカヴァーを激賞したことをご記憶でしょうか？
ある人間の人生を一冊の本にたとえると，最初の章は（当然）誕生で，その次の2・3章が子ども時代や青春時代，そして最終章が人生の終わりでしょう。Hurtの方は人生の終わりを描いていますが，こちらが描いているのは第三章か四章辺りではないでしょうか？
Do you remember that I posted Nine Inch Nail's Hurt and praised a cover by Johnny Cash pretty much?
Suppose the life of one person is a book, the very first chapter would be their birth (of course) and the following few would be their child and adolescent years.  The closing chapter would be their last days.  That's what Hurt describes and I think this song describes probably chapter 3 or 4 in the book.

(余談）

この曲を書いたのは，Johnny Cashの恋人だったJune CarterとMerle Kilgoreですが，CarterもCashも当時それぞれ別の相手と結婚していたため大変に苦労したのだとか。いわゆるW不倫というヤツですが，最終的にCashと再婚して添い遂げたので，ある意味「運命の相手」だったのかもしれません。

それはともかく，Googleで「ring of fire」と入力し，画像検索すると「環太平洋造山帯」の画像がトップに出てきます。したがって，主人公が落ちて行くのがここである可能性もゼロではないのですが，環太平洋造山帯には，日本海溝やマリアナ海溝をはじめとして，名だたる海溝が数多く存在するので，その場合には，そこから再び浮かび上がるのは非常に困難であるように思われます。
