（余談）

「パンがなければお菓子を食べればいいじゃない」のセリフで有名な（もっともこの話の信憑性には疑わしいところもありますが）かのマリー・アントワネットの言葉を引き合いに出すまでもなく，一般的に「お菓子(candy)」は生きていく上でどうしても必要なものではないため，ともすれば享楽的なイメージと結びつきやすく，その結果「薬物」などの反社会的なものを指すことが少なくありません。

そのため，この曲の元になっているこの曲「The Candy Man」についても，これが違法薬物の売人(candyman)のことだと主張する人は少なくありませんが，それはとりもなおさずそう主張する彼らの思考のベクトルの反映でもあります。
