曲を聞いてこの名曲を思い出しました。 歌詞に登場する「
俺の重機（my heavy machinery）」は車であると考える人もいれば病室にある心拍モニターのような医療機器であると考える人もいるようですが，個人的には人づきあいが苦手でコミュ障な主人公を表すメタファーなのではないかと思っています。

（余談）
歌詞とミュージック・ヴィデオを併せて考えれば，この主人公と相手は一緒にどこかに車で出かけて事故に遭ったようです。ベッド脇の赤いバラの花束は主人公が相手に渡したか，あるいは主人公か相手が第三者から渡されたかしたものでしょう。
病院に担ぎ込まれたものの，相手の容態は思わしくなく，完全看護の病院なので付き添うことはできずに帰宅するように（おそらく看護師）から促される主人公ですが，容態が容態だけにこのままでは相手が亡くなってしまうのではないかと不安におびえている，そういった内容なのではないかと思われます。
また歌詞に登場する「灯り（the lignt）」は文字通り「病室の照明」であると同時に「相手の命の灯」「（助かってくれという）主人公の希望」等々様々な意味を持っているような気がします。
