この曲のshowですが，リードで述べたように「恋愛関係」と取る以外にその人の「人生華やかなりし頃」だと考えることもできそうです。

起業して一時代を築いたものの今ではその事業もなくなった実業家やいわゆる「一発屋」は勿論のこと，将来を嘱望されながら活躍できなかったスポーツ選手，さらにもっと卑近な例で言えば，若い頃はモテまくっていたのに次第にその神通力にも陰りが見え始めた，いくら食べても太らなかったのに気が付くと堂々のメタボ体型だったなど，程度の差こそあれ，誰にでも通じるところがある歌詞ではないでしょうか？
