People say this song is a message from One Direction to their fans asking fans to stay loyal to them during their sabbatical break. Anyway, they use the word 'history' in a conventional way like " the aggregate of past events." In these days the word is often used in a different context in our daily lives : Delete the browsing history.

「21世紀になり，歴史(history)を作るよりも，履歴(history)を消す方がずっと重要になった(In the 21st century deleting history has become more important than making it.)」とどこかで聞いたことがありますがまさしくその通り。遺言を残す場合には「ブラウザの履歴の削除」に関する項目も入れておくべきかもしれません。
