主人公と相手は最終的に大金を手にしたと思いますか？私は思いません。数学の博士号を持っているだの，ソルボンヌで学んだだの，プログラムが書けるだと言っている主人公ですが，全く説得力がないからです。この曲を書いたNeil Tennantが説明しているように，歌詞に登場する２人は負け犬です。
Do you think the narrator and the second person are going to make "a lot of money" in the end?  I don't.  Despite his claims such as studying at Sorbonne and having Ph.D in mathematics and having computer programming skills, what the narrator's saying doesn't add up at all.  As Neil Tennant who wrote the song explained, the two in the lyrics are losers.

有名な話ですが，この歌詞は映画「真夜中のカウボーイ」からヒントを得たのだとか。（とはいうものの個人的には今回初めて知りました）。確かに主人公達は「負け犬」でしたね。
