1980年以前の曲と今日チャートを賑わせている曲とを比べた場合，その違いのひとつが曲中のヴァースの数で，今日ヴァースが２つ以上ある曲をヒット・チャートで見つけることはなかなか大変です。その一方で，当時はこういった曲も珍しくなく，しかもヒットしていました。
One of the difference between songs before 1980 and those we see on charts today would be the number of verses in a song.  It's not very easy to find songs with more than two verses on charts today.  On the other hand, songs like this weren't very rare and they were on charts back then.

（余談）

先日取り上げたIn The Year 2525は，ヴァース（あるいはコーラスのヴァリエーション）が10近くあり，一曲がより短くシンプルになっている最近のトレンドと比べると，その対極にあるような曲ですが，内容自体はまさに今のことを歌っているのではないかという感じです。

この調子で行けば，遠からず曲全部がコーラスで，なおかつテーマが地球温暖化という曲が出て来ても不思議ではありません。

その場合，踊りにくいのではと思われないでもありませんが，むしろ逆に世紀末的に盛り上がるのかもしれません。
