Dear Mr. Fantasy トラフィック (Traffic)

エンターテイナーと詐欺師には共通点が少なくないと思います。まず観客にしろカモにしろ自分以外の「相手」が必要な点，そして両者とも相手が望むもの，すなわちカモには（本当はウソの）約束を，観客には束の間の現実逃避を提供している点です。
I think there's a lot in common between entertainers and con artists.  First, they need a person or people, an audience or a victim to perform their art.  Second, they give the other party what the party wants.  They give the audience a brief moment of escape from the reality while giving the victim a promise which turns out to be false.

（余談）

そして突き詰めて考えてみれば，かなりの数の商売（ビジネス）がこのMr. Fantasy同様，相手にいわば「夢」を見せることで成り立っています。

たとえば，店頭のマネキンが着ている服を気に入って即購入したものの，いざ自分で着てみると何故かそれが全く別物（決してマネキン以上に良く見えたという意味ではありません）に見えてしまった経験の持ち主は私だけではないと確信しています。
