弱みを見せたくないがために人が自分の間違いを認めない場合，その人を批判すると気分がいいものですが，その人が認めてしまうと今度はそうは思えなくなります。その人が弱みを見せた途端に形勢は逆転し，その後も批判し続けると今度は悪いのは批判しているこちら側ということになります。
It's kind funny we often feel good to criticize a person when they don't admit their mistakes for fear of being seen vulnerable but we don't when they do.  The moment they show their vulnerability, the table is turned.  It's we who are to blame if we keep criticizing them even after that.

ある研究によるとむしろ自分の弱みを見せた方が周囲からは好意的に捉えられるとかで，これを「beautiful mess effect」と呼ぶそうです。
