自分の車はある意味自分の分身であり，そのため洗車したり掃除したりして清潔かつ見た目も美しくしておくのだと聞いたことがあります。

（余談）
車に対してさほど興味も関心もなく，Ａ地点からB地点へ移動できればそれで十分という人間からすれば，貴重な昼休みを潰してわざわざ車を洗うという行為は全くの意味不明ですが，車を自分の一部と考えるのであれば，洗車場で「結構な人間がお昼休みを利用して自分の車を洗って」いても不思議はないのかもしれません。
