Pete Brown, a poet who wrote the lyrics said that it's basically about his new flat. So at first I thought 'eyes' in the first verse represented two windows in the room and that 'silver horses' were real silver horses the narrator's watching through them. That seems to be wrong. Honestly I'm not sure what this song's all about.

（余談）
この曲の内容については様々な意見があり，失恋を扱っているとするもの，うつ病や絶望を歌ったものであるとするもの，そして薬物をテーマにした曲だと主張するものまで実に様々ですが，それらすべての根底にあるのは「空しさ」であるような気がします。
