Overcome ローラ・ムヴーラ (Laura Mvula ft. Nile Rogers)

曲のテーマといい，その世界観を表現する曲や歌詞といい，Laura Mvulaは独特です。どれほど困難であろうと苦境を克服しなければならないというメッセージは，もっと派手で攻撃的かつ相手を不快にさせかねないものでもおかしくないのですが，この曲の場合はむしろ聖歌を思わるなんとなく気持ちの落ち着く仕上がりになっています。
Laura Mvula sounds like no one else.  The theme she chooses for her song and the lyrics and music with which she describes her own world stand out from the crowd.  A message that we should overcome something through many struggles and hardships can be aggressive, loud and provocative sometimes.  This song, however, is rather choir-esque and somehow soothing.

どことなく聖歌やオペラを感じさせるこの曲ですが，Laura Mvulaがクラシックの音楽教育を受けていると聞けばそれも納得できます。SheといいGreen Gardenといい，曲を聞くとなんとなくいい空気を吸ったような気持ちになれるのが彼女のsignatureなのかもしれません。
