この曲を聞くとこの曲を思い出します。あちらの曲の主人公は相手と一緒に無事にキライな街を離れますが，この曲の主人公はひとりで街を出て行きます。ただどちらの主人公にとっても結末は似たようなものです。
This song reminds me of Fast Car by Tracy Chapman.  While the narrator in that song seems successfully left the place where they hated with the second person, the protagonist of this song did alone.  The ending seems to be much the same for both of them.

ただ見方を変えれば，仮に主人公がこれで成功した場合，相手がこういうヤツだったからこそ主人公が奮起したとも言えるわけで，逆に相手と上手くいった場合そこで満足してしまう可能性もあるので，これはこれでアリなのではないでしょうか？
