When a band stops releasing a new song, that's often the beginning of the end. Sometimes they go hiatus or on sabbatical but in most cases, they breakup and dissolve later. The longer it gets, the harder for the band to reunite. That doesn't seem to be the case this time. This year The Stone Roses released their first new song "All For One" in more than 20 years.

（余談）
有名バンドがツアーをするために再結成という話はよく聞くのですが，そういう場合は大抵が今までの曲を演奏するというパターンであって，今回のバンドのように，新曲を出すというのは比較的珍しいことであるように思われます。
