「美しい人」の判断基準とは一体何でしょうか？体に関して言えば，ウエストとヒップのサイズの比率には，黄金比率と言うものが存在するらしく，女性の場合は，ウェストのサイズがヒップ・サイズの70%だと美しいとされるようです。この比率，その人の健康と子どもを産む能力と相関関係にあるようで，ミロのヴィーナスや，有名人で言うとマリリン・モンローなどがこの比率に近い0.69の比率の持ち主であるようです。ただ，ミロのヴィーナスの子どもの数はわかりませんが。
What's the criteria for a beautiful person?  As for a human body, they say the golden ratio, or waist-hip-ratio (WHR) for female is 0.7.  It's said the ratio correlates with general health and fertility.  For example,  the famous Venus de Milo possesses it and some celebrities like Marilyn Monroe does a close figure (0.69).  I don't know how many children Venus de Milo had, though.

（余談）

リードで述べた「黄金比率」ですが，男性の場合は0.9なんだとか。調べたところ，日本人男性の平均ヒップサイズは90㎝前後のようなので，そこから導き出される黄金比率のウェストサイズは，81センチになると思われますが，これを多いと見て減量に励むか，逆に「まだまだイケんで」と考えて「増量」に向かうかは人それぞれでしょう。
