この曲の作者はPaulと妻のLinda McCartneyであり，多くの人はこの曲がPaulが以前いたバンドThe Beatlesの解散を歌ったものだと考えていますが，ウツになった後そこから抜け出した体験を歌っていると考える人もいます。
Paul and Linda McCartney wrote this song.  Many people believe it's about the breakup of The Beatles to which he belonged previously.  Some people think, however, it's about being in depression and later coming out of it.

歌詞の第三連に登場する「最初の誰か(the first one)」と「他の一人(the second one)」をJohn LennonとPaul McCartneyだと考える人もいるようですが，私はPaulと妻のLindaであるような気がします。マスコミに取り囲まれて常に見られている生活がイヤになったPaul McCartneyと妻のLindaが，どこか遠くのマスコミの来ない場所へ逃げ出した経験を歌っているのではないでしょうか？
