Oh! (The Beatles)

Believe it or not, many people think this song is addressed to John Lennon who was leaving The Beatles at that time.
Oh! Darling  (The Beatles)

[Verse 1]
Oh! Darling, please believe me
I'll never do you no harm
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm

[Verse 2]
Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I beg you (Woo)
Don't ever leave me alone

[Bridge]
When you told me you didn't need me anymore
Well, you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me – you didn't need me anymore
Well, you know I nearly fell down and died

[Verse 3]
Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm
(Believe me, darling)

[Bridge]
When you told me (Woo) you didn't need me anymore
Well, you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me – you didn't need me anymore
Well, you know I nearly fell down and died

[Verse 4]
Oh! Darling, please believe me
I'll never let you down (Oh! Believe me, darling)
Believe me when I tell you (Woo)
I'll never do you no harm

[Verse 1]

[Bridge]

[Bridge]

Now and Then ザ・ビートルズ (The Beatles)

If I had heard this song 30 years ago, I would have believed John Lennon was still alive and rushed to buy a tabloid paper which I never took seriously.
Now and Then  (The Beatles)

[Intro: Paul McCartney]
(One, two, three)

[Refrain: John Lennon]
I know it's true
It's all because of you
And if I make it through
It's all because of you

[Verse 1: John Lennon, Paul McCartney & John Lennon & Paul McCartney]
And now and then
If we must start again
Well, we will know for sure
That I will love you

[Chorus]
Now and then
I miss you
Oh, now and then
I want you to be there for me
Always to return to me

[Verse 2: John Lennon]
I know it's true
It's all because of you
And if you go away
I know you'll never stay

[Chorus: John Lennon & Paul McCartney]
Now and then
I miss you
Oh, now and then
I want you to be there for me

[Bridge: George Harrison]

[Refrain: John Lennon]
I know it's true
It's all because of you
And if I make it through
It's all because of you

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro: Ringo Starr]
(Good one)

[Intro: Paul McCartney]

[Refrain: John Lennon]

[Verse 1: John Lennon, Paul McCartney & John Lennon & Paul McCartney]

[Chorus]

[Verse 2: John Lennon]

[Chorus: John Lennon & Paul McCartney]

[Bridge: George Harrison]

[Refrain: John Lennon]

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro: Ringo Starr]

(The Beatles)

I didn't believe my eyes when I got no hit in my own blog searching for this song.  I thought I already translated it into Japanese years ago but I didn't.  So now I'll give it a try.
Hey Jude  (The Beatles)

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better

And any time you feel the pain
Hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulder
For, well, you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder

Na, na, na, na-na, na, na, na-na

Hey Jude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her (let it out and let it in)
Remember (hey Jude) to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Better, better, better, better (I'm begging you), better, oh!

さらにここで個人的に言及しておきたいのが「And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain, Don't carry the world upon your shoulder」の下りです。

(The Beatles)

(I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved)」の下りについて,John Lennonはそれが自分の若いころのことだと認めています。
As for these lines "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved", John Lennon admitted that it's about himself when he was young.
Getting Better  (The Beatles)

[Intro: Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison]
It's getting better all the time

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
I used to get mad at my school (No, I can't complain)
The teachers who taught me weren't cool (No, I can't complain)

You're holding me down (Ah-ah), turning me 'round (Ah-oh)
Filling me up with your rules (Fool, you fool)

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
I've got to admit it's getting better (Better)
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
I have to admit it's getting better (Better)
It's getting better since you've been mine

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney]
Me used to be angry young man
Me hiding me head in the sand
You gave me the word, I finally heard
I'm doing the best that I can

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
I've got to admit it's getting better (Better)
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
I have to admit it's getting better (Better)
It's getting better since you've been mine
Getting so much better all the time!

[Post-Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
It's getting better all the time
(Better, better, better)
It's getting better all the time
(Better, better, better)

[Verse 3: Paul McCartney and John Lennon]
I used to be cruel to my woman
I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved
Man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene
And I'm doing the best that I can (Fool, you fool)

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
I admit it's getting better (Better)
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
Yes, I admit it's getting better (Better)
It's getting better since you've been mine
Getting so much better all the time!

[Post-Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]
It's getting better all the time
(Better, better, better)
It's getting better all the time
(Better, better, better)

[Outro: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison]
Getting so much better all the time!

[Intro: Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison]

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney]

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Post-Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Verse 3: Paul McCartney and John Lennon]

[Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Post-Chorus: Paul McCartney (& John Lennon and George Harrison)]

[Outro: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison]

* I can't complain
** hiding me head in the sand ・・・ (問題やイヤなことから)目を背ける,見ないフリをする(bury one's head in the sand)

(The Beatles)

We don't think too much about things we think we know very well.  I'm sure I have heard this song probably more than 100 times in my life and not even a single time I bothered to think what it's all about.
Ticket to Ride  (The Beatles)

I think I'm gonna be sad,
I think it's today, yeah!
The girl that's drivin' me mad,
Is goin' away.

She's got a ticket to ride,
She's got a ticket to rihihihide
She's got a ticket to ride, but she don't care.

She said that living with me,
Is bringin' her down yeah!
For she would never be free when I was around.

She's got a ticket to ride,
She's got a ticket to rihihihide,
She's got a ticket to ride, but she don't care.

I don't know why she's ridin' so high,
She oughtta think twice,
She oughtta to do right by me.

I think I'm gonna be sad,
I think it's today, yeah!
The girl that's drivin' me mad,
Is goin' away.

She's got a ticket to ride,
She's got a ticket to rihihihide,
She's got a ticket to ride, but she don't care.

I don't know why she's ridin' so high,
She oughtta think twice,
She oughtta to do right by me.

Before she gets to sayin' goodbye,
She oughtta to think twice,
She oughtta to do right by me.

She said that livin' with me,
Is bringing her down yeah!
For she would never be free when I was around.

She's got a ticket to ride,
She's got a ticket to rihihihide,
She's got a ticket to ride, but she don't care.
My baby don't care, my baby don't care.
My baby don't care, my baby don't care.

The Beatles

(Wings)

Being a cynic isn't very hard.  You can just criticize whatever you like: social system, media and people.  You can slag off people like your colleagues, friends, and family members, dismissing them as idiots.
Silly Love Songs  (Wings)

[Intro]
You'd think that people would've had enough of silly love songs
I look around me, and I see it isn't so
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs
And what's wrong with that?
I'd like to know, 'cause here I go again

[Chorus]
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you

[Verse 1]
I can't explain, the feeling's plain to me (I love you)
Now can't you see?
Ah, she gave me more, she gave it all to me (I love you)
Now can't you see?
What's wrong with that?
I need to know, 'cause here I go again

[Chorus]
I love you
I love you

[Bridge]
Love doesn't come in a minute
Sometimes it doesn't come at all
I only know that when I'm in it
It isn't silly, love isn't silly, love isn't silly at all

[Chorus 2]
How can I tell you about my loved one?
How can I tell you about my loved one?
How can I tell you about my loved one? (I love you)
How can I tell you about my loved one? (I love you)

[Chorus 1 & 2/Verse 2]
I love you
I love you
I love you (I can't explain, the feeling's plain to me, say, can't you see?)
I love you (Ah, he gave me more, he gave it all to me, say, can't you see?)
I love you (I can't explain, the feeling's plain to me
Say, can't you see?)
{How can I tell you about my loved one?}
I love you (Ah, he gave me more, he gave it all to me
Say, can't you see?)
{How can I tell you about my loved one?}
I love you
(I can't explain, the feeling's plain to me
Say, can't you see?)
{How can I tell you about my loved one?}
I love you
(Ah, he gave me more, he gave it all to me
Say, can't you see?)
{How can I tell you about my loved one?}

[Outro]
You'd think that people would've had enough of silly love songs
I look around me and I see it isn't so, oh, no
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs
And what's wrong with that?

[Intro]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

[Chorus 2]

[Chorus 1 & 2/Verse 2]
{どうしたら伝わるんだろ?大切な相手のことが}
{どうしたら伝わるんだろ?大切な相手のことが}
{どうしたら伝わるんだろ?大切な相手のことが}
{どうしたら伝わるんだろ?大切な相手のことが}

[Outro]

(George Harrison)

What is the narrator is looking for?  Salvation of their soul?  Maybe.  Some sort of revelation?  Could be.  Either way, I don't know exactly what they mean.

He’s So Fine (The Chiffons)

The narrator who is probably a heterosexual female believes the guy (he) is between his partners right now.  How can she be so sure?  He could be in a relationship with some other girl.  He could be gay.
He’s So Fine  (The Chiffons)

He's so fine
Wish he were mine
That handsome boy over there
The one with the wavy hair

I don't know how, I'm gonna do it
But I'm gonna make him mine
He's the envy of all the girls
It's just a matter of time

He's a soft spoken guy
Also seems kinda shy
Makes me wonder if I
Should even give him a try

But then I know he can't shy
He can't shy away forever
And I'm gonna make him mine
If it takes me forever

He's so fine
(Oh yeah)
Gotta be mine
(Oh yeah)
Sooner or later
(Oh yeah)
I hope it's not later
(Oh yeah)
We gotta get together
(Oh yeah)
The sooner the better
(Oh yeah)
I just can't wait, I just can't wait
To be held in his arms

If I were a queen
And he asked me to leave my throne
I'll do anything that he asked
Anything to make him my own

For he's so fine
(So fine)
So fine
(So fine)
He's so fine
(So fine)
So fine
(So fine)
He's so fine
(So fine)
Oh yeah
(He's so fine)
He's so fine

(Paul McCartney)

I have vaguely believed (sounds quite contradictory, though) it's one of the Beatles' but it's not. It's written by Paul McCartney and released in 1979 long after their breakup.
Wonderful Christmas Time  (Paul McCartney)

[Verse 1]
The moon is right
The spirits up
We're here tonight
And that's enough

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 2]
The party's on
The feeling's here
That only comes
This time of year

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 3]
The choir of children sing their song
They practiced all year long
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 4]
The word is out
About the town
To lift a glass
And don't look down

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 3]
The choir of children sing their song
They practiced all year long
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong

[Verse 2]
The party's on
The feeling's here
That only comes
This time of year

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 1]
The moon is right
The spirits up
We're here tonight
And that's enough

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Chorus]
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

[Verse 1]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

(The Beatles)

Why do babies cry when they are sleepy?  Some claim that babies get scared and start crying when they feel sleepy because they're feeling they might die.  So you should scoop and hold them tight to make them feel safe.
Golden Slumbers  (The Beatles)

[Chorus]
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Verse]
Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Chorus]
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Chorus]

[Verse]

[Chorus]

The Long and Winding Road (The Beatles)

The word "road" is often used as a metaphor for our experience, memory and life.  It's said that the second person in this song refers to Paul McCartney's then-partner, Jane Asher or the band, The Beatles.
The Long and Winding Road  (The Beatles)

[Verse 1]
The long and winding road that leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before it always leads me here
Leads me to your door

[Verse 2]
The wild and windy night that the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried
And still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door

[Verse 3]
But still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't keep me waiting here (Don't keep me waiting), lead me to your door
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[Verse 1]

(The Beatles)

I believed it's the original and The Beatles wrote it.  Well, it's not.  It's a song written by Roy Lee Johnson and originally recorded by Dr. Feelgood & the Interns as a B-side in 1962.  Some say it's the Beatles' worst cover.
Mr. Moonlight  (The Beatles)

[Verse 1]
Mr. Moonlight
You came to me one summer night
And from your beam you made my dream
And from the world you sent my girl
And from above you sent us love
And now she is mine
I think you're fine
Cause we love you, Mr. Moonlight

[Chorus]
Mr. Moonlight, come again please
Here I am on my knees
Begging if you please
And the night you don't come my way
I'll pray and pray more each day
Cause we love you, Mr. Moonlight

[Verse 2]
And the night you don't come my way
Oh, I'll pray and pray more each day
Cause we love you, Mr. Moonlight
Mr. Moonlight

[Chorus]

[Verse 1]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

Band On The Run (Paul McCartney & Wings)

Paul and Linda McCartney wrote this song.  Many people believe it's about the breakup of The Beatles to which he belonged previously.  Some people think, however, it's about being in depression and later coming out of it.
Band On The Run  (Paul McCartney & Wings)

[Verse 1]
Stuck inside these four walls
Sent inside forever
Never seeing no one nice again
Like you, mama
You, mama
You

[Segue]

[Verse 2]
If I ever get out of here
Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get out of here
If we ever get out of here

[Segue]

[Verse 3]
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there
"I hope you're having fun"

[Hook]
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the jailer man and Sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run
Band on the run
For the band on the run
Band on the run

[Verse 4]
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh
Seeing no one else had come
And a bell was ringing in the Village Square
For the rabbits on the run

[Hook]
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the jailer man and Sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run
Band on the run

Yeah, the band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run

[Verse 5]
Well, the night was falling as the desert world
Began to settle down
In the town they're searching for us everywhere
But we never will be found

[Hook]
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the County Judge, who held a grudge
Will search forevermore
For the band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run

[Verse 1]

[Segue]

[Verse 2]

[Segue]

[Verse 3]

[Hook]

[Hook]

[Hook]

歌詞の第三連に登場する「最初の誰か(the first one)」と「他の一人(the second one)」をJohn LennonとPaul McCartneyだと考える人もいるようですが,私はPaulと妻のLindaであるような気がします。

(The Beatles)

Around this time of the year, a London based department store chain John Lewis places a sophisticated yet pretty heartwarming ad on TV.  It always restores my faith in humanity.  It features one of the Beatles' classics, Golden Slumber this year.
Golden Slumber  (The Beatles)

(John Lewis Christmas Advert)

[Chorus]
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Verse]
Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Chorus]
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

[Chorus]

[Verse]

[Chorus]

Help! (The Beatles)

Elton John
Sir Elton John once said, "Fame attracts lunatics."  I'm not famous, not in the remotest sense of the word but I think I understand it.  Lunatics is not the only thing your fame gives you, of course.  It gives you credibility as well.
Help!  (The Beatles)

[Intro: John Lennon]
(Help!) I need somebody
(Help!) Not just anybody
(Help!) You know I need someone
(Help!)

[Verse 1: John Lennon]
When I was younger so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors

[Chorus: John Lennon]
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me?

[Verse 2: John Lennon]
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways
My independence seems to vanish in the haze
But every now and then I feel so insecure
I know that I just need you like I've never done before

[Chorus: John Lennon]
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me?

[Verse 3: John Lennon]
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors

[Chorus: John Lennon]
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me?
Help me? Help me? Ooh

 [Intro: John Lennon]

[Verse 1: John Lennon]

[Chorus: John Lennon]

[Verse 2: John Lennon]

[Chorus: John Lennon]

[Verse 3: John Lennon]

[Chorus: John Lennon]

She Loves You ザ・ビートルズ (The Beatles)

I bet you have heard this song a million times before but do you know what this song's all about?  I didn't.  I thought the person the narrator's talking to was the narrator themselves.  That's not true.  There are three people in this song:  The narrator, the second person (probably a friend of the narrator) and she.
She Loves You  (The Beatles)

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
You think you lost your love
Well, I saw her yesterday
It's you she's thinking of
And she told me what to say

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind
But now she said she knows
You're not the hurting kind

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

[Verse 3: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
You know it's up to you
I think it's only fair
Pride can hurt you, too
Apologise to her

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
Because she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
She loves you
And you know you should be glad

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
[She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah]

[Outro: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Verse 3: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

[Outro: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]

When I'm Sixty-Four (The Beatles)

Sgt.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.  Although I've heard this song so many times before and that made it sound quite familiar to me, I didn't know either the title or what the song is about until this year.  It reminds me of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud and I'm not the only one who thinks so.
When I'm Sixty-Four  (The Beatles)
[Verse 1]
When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?

[Verse 2]
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

[Verse 3]
You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

[Verse 4]
I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride

[Verse 5]
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

[Verse 6]
Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave

[Verse 7]
Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away

[Verse 8]
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

[Outro]
Whoo!

[Verse 1]

Dave

[Verse 7]

A Hard Day's Night (The Beatles)

I've heard this song a million times before.  Well, I'm exaggerating a bit with 'million' but I'm sure I heard it at least 500 times before.  This is the first time I realize what they're saying in this song.  For so many years I thought the title was "A Hard Days and Nights" and it's about the narrator's struggles in their lives.
A Hard Day's Night  (The Beatles)

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan
Because when I get you alone
You know I feel ok

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeh

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

Aw!

So why on earth should I moan
Because when I get you alone
You know I feel ok

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeh

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I feel alright
You know I feel alright

I'm A Loser (The Beatles)

Even to those who are not a devoted fan of The Beatles, the name Paul McCartney is associated with some grandeur.  He's definitely one of the most established artists in the music industry and is always beyond our reach like a member of a royal family.
In the video below, Paul McCartney did his very best to introduce this song to the audience in Paris, saying something like "Thank you, thank you very much.  Thank you.  Hi, hi? Hi.  Er...Now a song called I'm A Loser" in French.  That makes me realize that he's just one of us.
I'm A Loser  (The Beatles)
[Intro]
I'm a loser
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

[Verse 1]
Of all the love I have won or have lost
There is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million, my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

[Chorus]
I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

[Verse 2]
Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
What have I done to deserve such a fate?
I realise I have left it too late
And so it's true, pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all

[Chorus]

[Intro]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]

[Chorus]

(The Beatles)

The word 'black' often represents something negative in English.  So I've associated this song with  things rather ominous, such as death, fear or evil spirits.  Actually, it's a homage to the Civil Rights Movement in the US.  Paul McCartney who wrote the song once explained he wrote it in Scotland in response to the movement during 1960s.  He also said the word 'bird' was a slang for a 'girl' in the UK and therefore 'blackbird' represented an African American girl/woman.
Blackbird  (The Beatles)
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
