突き詰めればそれが正しいという保証はどこにもないのですが，何故か多くの人がそれを信じており，自分の宗教に合致しないものを排除したり変えようとしたりします。

この曲，一見したところ何の問題もない歌詞ですが，この曲が出た当時Justin Bieberがすでに17歳だったことを考えれば，それをそのまま信じるわけにはいきません。しかも歌詞に登場する「ダンス」という単語が，多くの場合ただの「踊り」を意味しているわけではないと知った今では猶更です，

このヴィデオに「この曲の低評価がわからない」とコメントしている人がいましたが，この曲が出た2012年当時，私はこの曲をさほど評価していませんでした。歌詞の内容が軽いと思ったからです。2011年にこのブログを始めたばかりで，人生や苦悩などを扱った曲の方が，そうでない曲よりもずっといいと生意気にも信じていました。
Someone commented on this video as "I don't understand why this song is so underrated."  When I heard this song for the first time in 2012, I wasn't much impressed with it.  I thought the lyrics weren't deep enough.  I just started this blog in 2011 and was so arrogant to believe songs about something deep like life or struggle should be so much better than those not.

サンクスギビングも終わった時期にしては暖かすぎるその夜，ひょんなことから都心にいた私は，周囲の高層ビルを見上げながら，今日のライヴはどうなるのかと考えていました。
It's an exceptionally warm night for the holiday season in Tokyo.  In an unexpected turn of events, I was at the heart of the metropolitan area looking up at high rises surrounding me wondering how the show would be like that day.

（余談）

今回はBritish Lionの初来日ライヴであったにもかかわらず，同じジャンルのCamelotとHARDCORE SUPERSTARのライヴが同じ日に重なってしまったため，観客が分散しチケットの売り上げにも影響が出て，一時は公演キャンセルも危ぶまれたらしいのですが，以前Iron Maidenが国技館で公演した際，チケットが取れず見に来られなかったファンのためにSteve Harrisが赤字覚悟で決行してくれたのだとか。

そのせいかどうかはわかりませんが，他の２つの公演を蹴ってまでそこに集まった観客の間には「絶対に盛り上げなくては！」という一種の連帯感が合ったように思います。

この曲，メロディーも美しくライヴでも素晴らしかったので，今回こちらで取り上げてみました。この曲でBritish Lionに興味を持ってくださる方がいらっしゃれば何よりです。

成長するにつれて物の見方は変わります。子どもの頃，私にとって物事は明確に白と黒とに分かれていました。この世の中は「いい人」と「悪いヤツ」だけで，その中間の人間などいないと信じていたわけですが，今はそれが誤りであったとわかっています。実際にはほとんどの人間がその中間にあるからです。
Our perspective changes as we get older.  When I was a kid, things were pretty black and white.  I believed there were only good people and bad people in the world and nobody between.  Now I know that's not true and almost everyone falls somewhere in-between.

（余談）

元々は2012年に発表された曲ですが，なぜか今年になってDynoroによるMixがヒットしました。

個人的にはオリジナルの方が好みですが，確かにいわゆるEDMのお手本のようなオリジナルに比べ，DynoroとGigi D'Agostinoのヴァージョンは，どことなく80年代っぽさを感じさせる独特の雰囲気を漂わせています。

それはともかく，D'Agostinoという名前を見て「西洋時計が・・・」とつぶやいたのは私だけではありますまい。

この曲を聞いた時，歌っているのはLana Del Reyにほぼ間違いないと思いました。サウンドといい，歌詞といい，声といい，あらゆるものが彼女を指していたからです。それだけに彼女がこの曲に全く関わっていないと知って非常に驚きました。
When I heard this song, I almost believed it's Lana Del Rey who's singing it.  The sound, the lyrics and the voice, everything pointed to her.  So I was pretty surprised to find she didn't remotely take part in it.

Rebecca Fergusonのことをご存じでしょうか？ある読者の方からのリクエストに応えて2012年にこちらの曲を取り上げました。今はもう時間的な余裕がなくこちらでリクエストを受け付けていませんが当時は違ったからです。彼女は今も音楽を作り続けているのでしょうか？
