今では「飛行機に乗ったくらいじゃダメなんだ（飛行機に乗ったくらいじゃダメなんだ）」と言われても「そりゃそうだよね」くらいにしか思いませんが，この曲が発表されたのが1934年であることを考えれば「飛行機に乗る」ことがいかに一般庶民からかけ離れたことであったかは容易に想像がつきます。今で言えば「宇宙に行く」くらいの感覚でしょう。

ただ確かに宇宙旅行というものは，普通の飛行機に乗るのと基本的には同じことなので，一度経験してしまうと余程のことがない限り（宇宙に行く場合の余程のことがあってはシャレになりません）毎度毎度の繰り返しになることは避けられません。

その点人間には「こんな面があったのか」という発見をする余地が残されているので，そういった意味で「なのにお前と一緒にいるとちょっとワクワクするんだよ」のも無理からぬことと言えるでしょう。

「noise（雑音）」とは「予想外のあるいは求めていない大きく不快な音」であり，人々が聞いたり耳を傾けたりしたいものではありません。したがってここでいう「a beautiful noise（素晴らしい雑音）」とは，主人公にとっては重要で意味のあることでありながら，多数派や体制側が無視したいと思っていることになります。

祖父の言っていたことは要するに「お前がいい人間なら相手にそうだとわかる手がかりを与えてやれ」ということなのでしょう。無論「身だしなみがきちんとしている」ことも「ちゃんとした靴を履いている」ことも単なる確証バイアス（ステレオタイピング）なので，それだけでは何の保証にもなりませんが，少なくとも多少なりとも相手を安心させる役には立ちそうです。

バイアスというのは思った以上に手強く，十分に理解しているつもりでも，ふと気がつくと自分でも「普通は～でしょ？」あるいは「～は常識でしょ？」などと言ってしまい，またその基準に他人が従わないとそれが大きなストレスになってしまいます。

だとすれば「普通」や「常識」などはあくまでもその個人にとっての「普通」や「常識」に過ぎず，人類普遍のものではないと理解することが，ある意味この歌詞にいう「鎖を切って自由になる」ことなのかもしれません。

それはともかく，Wikipediaによると，2011年の映画「Bridesmaid」にWilson Phillipsがバンドとして出演し，この曲を演奏しているそうです。

おそらく原曲よりもカヴァーの方が有名な曲のひとつでしょう。Charles FoxとNorman GimbelがDon McLeanのプレイを見て感動した歌手のLori Liebermanとともにこの原曲を書きましたが, 彼女は彼が自分の隠していた秘密や考えをみんな知っているような気がしたんだとか。

メロディーについて言えば，1965年にアカデミー賞5部門を受賞した映画The Sound of Musicの中のMy Favorite Thingsとこの曲はかなり重なるものの，それぞれが言わんとするところはかなり異なります。
While this song shares a significant part of the tune with My Favorite Things featured in the film The Sound of Music which won 5 Academy Awards in 1965, the message they deliver are quite different.

Shining Star アース・アンド・ウィンド・アンド・ファイア (Earth, Wind and Fire)

この曲の「生まれつき「太陽の化身」みたいな存在で，やっと「仕事」が始まったとこ，ああそうだよ気がついた，ひとりでやらなきゃダメだって(Born a man child of the sun, Saw my work had just begun, Yeah, found I had to stand alone)」の箇所について，これがイエス・キリストのことだと考える人も少なくないようですが，Earth, Wind and Fireの創立者の故Maurice Whiteはキリスト教徒ではなかったようです。
As for the lines, "Born a man child of the sun, Saw my work had just begun" many people take them as a reference to Jesus Christ.  Late Maurice White who was the founder of the band didn't seem to be a Christian.

あくまで個人的な見解ですが，他人のことに過度に干渉するのは，自分自身に自信がなく，他人に自分の見方が受け入れられて，そこからのフィードバックがなければ不安で仕方ないからではないでしょうか？

（余談）

「ボーイ・バンド」と「ハーモニー・グループ」の違いはその歌唱力にあり，彼らの価値観では歌唱力のある方が優れているということなのかもしれません。ただそれがルックスであれ歌唱力であれ，ある程度まで遺伝的に与えられているという点では両者に違いはなく，たとえていうならば，足が速いのとジャンプ力があるのとどちらが素晴らしいのかという程度の問題でしかないような気がします。

Lauren Daigleによると，ツアー中のある夜，観客にはまだ聞かせていなかったこの曲をやろうと決めたそうです。すると最初のコーラスが終わった後，驚いたことに二回目のコーラスで観客が一緒に歌い始め，そのことで彼女はそこに何らかの「神の手」が働いたと思ったんだとか。

（余談）

こんな話をするとリードで述べたせっかくの「いい話」にケチがつきそうで心苦しいのですが，観客がコーラス部分を歌えるというのはそれほど珍しいことではないように思われます。

なにしろ二回目のコーラスなのですから，観客の側も一度はメロディを耳にしています。よほど変わったメロディやコード進行でない限り，なんとなく追えると考える方が自然です。

そもそもその程度のことで「神の手」を感じていては，日本の演歌の世界では年がら年中その「神の手」が働いていることになってしまいます。
