Apologize ワン・リパブリック(OneRepublic)

最初は浮気性な恋人にうんざりした主人公が恋人に別れ話をする歌詞だと思いました。和訳もその流れでつけたのですが、途中でこれは別の解釈も可能なのではないかと気がつきました。不実な恋人の態度と言い訳に絶望した主人公が自殺してしまうという解釈です。大変悲しい解釈ですが、そう思うと最初のロープのくだりが妙にしっくりきます。
At first I thought the narrator of the song was fed up with lies of his unfaithful girlfriend and finally tell her goodbye.  I translated it accordingly and realized that another interpretation was possible.  The unfaithful attitude and repeated lies of her drove him to commit suicide.  This interpretation makes the song very depressing one but also makes the first part of the lyrics "I'm holding on a rope, Get me ten feet off the ground" far more convincing.
